Day 3 of 365 Days of Wonder

It’s actually a kind of wonder how it seems like my drowsiness is disappearing when I write on my blog. I can’t really stay up very late because I feel like I really deserve a good night’s sleep. The kid’s energy may be bouncing all around but they sure do take a part of mine. So here’s the third precept:

“Three things in human life are important: the first is to be kind, the second is to be kind, and the third is to be kind.” – Henry James

I know it’s very obvious that he wants to really emphasize just one thing – to be kind. I have read in Haleigh’s blog that she doesn’t have to perfect, she just have to be kind. Which I totally agree especially when it comes to dealing with kids. Sometimes I’m surprised at how easily they can get along with other people. But if you just truly look at it, it’s because the person around them are being kind to them. This makes it easier for kids to trust them and feel at ease. I feel like I’m being kind. I mean really, although I think I’m becoming too much at times. But it’s because I really believe in being kind and understanding than being right. It may sound like I don’t stand up for anything. I do. But it doesn’t mean that I have to make other people swallow a concrete wall just because they have to be like me. I can easily let people say what they want and I’ll just walk away. Of course deep inside I can also feel emotions. But I don’t let it all out just so others will know I’m affected. There are numerous times when I feel like I should say something. But when I let things flow naturally without trying to go against it, everything just turns out all right. So just be kind.

A little extra something:

I’m trying to follow Yoon Si Yoon’s ways. So I’m writing 5 things I’m thankful for everyday. =) Fighting!

Day 2 of 365 Days of Wonder

Yay! I’m able to write down my thoughts again!

Here’s the Day 2 of 365 Days of Wonder:

“And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.” – Roald Dahl

When I was still new to the service, I used to look up at the skies and appreciate how the clouds are formed. They are there everyday and yet everyday is not the same. I usually acknowledge how wonderful is the Creator of these daily masterpieces. (Ok, I am totally distracted with the gif I placed above!) Anyway, I just confirmed a surprising news today. Looks like we’ll have another fella joining our group of friends this March. The rest of us were hoping for a news of a wedding actually, but well. And it’s one of the greatest magic of life for me. I know the science behind this but it’s still quite wonderful to think of this as some magical happening.

Actually, I see a lot of things happening around me as magical. You know, just how could these things fall into their proper places. This precept is quite similar to the one yesterday. It’s mostly about being in awe at the things around you. Likewise, it also strikes me as exploring more and believing that there’s so much more in this world than what we can see. I believe there’s magic everywhere and it takes one person who believes in magic to see it. (Ugh, not making much sense at the moment. I’ll be back to work tomorrow so I need to sleep early and wake up early. Plus the rain always reminds of power outage. And it’s raining now. So much for positive thinking haha) Don’t worry Mr. Dahl, I’ll always have my glittering eyes on and continue seeing the magic of this world. This is one of the reasons why I always want to travel. (Looking forward to Japan!)

My extra something:

The guy above there is Yoon Si Yoon or Yoon Dong Gu for 2 Days 1 Night! I’m hoping to see him one day. And I’ll make him as the model of my thoughts everyday! He is one of the magic I always like witnessing. He’s not just a pretty face but so much more!!! =)

Day 1 of 365 Days of Wonder

When we had our exchange of gifts last December 20, I received a book entitled 365 Days of Wonder (Mr. Browne’s Book of Precepts) by R.J. Palacio. So I thought it would be nice to write my thoughts about the precept I’ll be reading each day. I actually didn’t read any of the precepts before this day, January 1, 2017. So here’s the first one:tumblr_lv4k9wfdyq1r6rhbyo1_500

“We carry within us the wonders we seek around us.” – Sir Thomas Browne

I totally agree to this. There were many times when I’ve been on a trip with some people who just can’t seem to see the beauty I see. It’s not that they’re totally negative people. I guess they just have seen so much already that little things don’t surprise them anymore. I may have been like one of them on some occasions as well. But now that I think of it, it’s more fun to always have that wonder about things. It’s more fun to look at things as they are without analyzing how they came to be, what makes them beautiful or ugly, or how it can be improved. I know not everyone can be like that. I totally understand. However, I must say that I feel lighter when I am able to appreciate the wonders around me that I don’t really intend to find. These are like the little surprises of life everyday, the wonders we don’t intend to seek but is presented so openly to us.

I wish and hope an pray to continue to experience the wonders this world has to offer. Because sometimes, no matter how wonderful the thing is in front of us, we can still fail to see it. It also has something to do with our mindset which I am still working on. My goal is to be “more” this year. So I need all the positive thoughts out there to stay with me and help me become better.

Just a little something more:

This April, me and my sister are travelling to Japan. I have written in my little notebook my goal destinations and Japan is one of them. I wrote there that I’ll be visiting the country in all four seasons and April falls in spring. So that’s one. As of the moment of this writing, we only have out plane tickets. Our visa is yet to be processed. However, I am already claiming it. The tickets were not cheap so I believe we are going to make good use of it!

(It’s 1:46am! Gotta sleep now!) Happy New Year! Happy New Start! Happy 2017! Stay blessed!

You made me think…

This just popped out of my mind after reading a post from a guy who had his heart broken (or so I think).

Usually, I see guys as just what they appear to be: carefree, happy-go-lucky, just always chillin’… then after I read a specific post from this guy who had poured out his emotions and questions concerning the way their relationship ended, I was made to think: “Guys feel this way too?” It’s kind of weird for me, honestly. Maybe it is quite a surprise for me because I know this guy as someone who is being Arctic cool. It could also be because guys tend to give out that vibe of not caring when in reality their emotions are just hidden somewhere deep and just let out to their own bffs. But anyway, it was quite refreshing to read his post. His mind might always be in chaos, his linguistic expressions are the opposite.

He stopped posting for a while though. Maybe it would take another heavy heartbreak to bring him back to his page. =P

Teacher’s Thoughts: Being thanked for

I’ll make good use of this free time!

Valentine’s Day wasn’t able to make it on a weekday. However, I somehow managed to bring some of its essence to the kids by telling them little details about how Valentine’s day came to be. I also have them make Valentine’s Day cards without having to receive some from them. I made them pick out a name from rolled pieces of paper to which they will give their cards. Some of my pupils complained that they have picked out the name of their naughty classmate. I told them, in their letter, they can put there the things they want to say before they graduate next month. It somehow made a positive result as they were able to give advises and express their thoughts in their own level. My class’ Valentine’s Day cards just revolved around them. I still received some from other classes though. What they have written on the cards made me think.

Most of the pupils thanked me for teaching them things like teaching them how to read and teaching them songs. It made me think: “Should they really be thanking me?” I mean, I’m a teacher, that’s what teachers do, teach. And not just teach but also encourage the learners to discover and learn more. Also, we are being paid for what we do. But to these kids, it must have meant something more. Sometimes I think it’s just about so they can write something in their cards. But there are some that really seem to be sincere as they have even written the letter in our dialect so they can express themselves more.

I’m not saying the pupils should not be thankful. It does take great effort to deliver the service they deserve. But I just find it quite amusing to hear it from elementary kids. To me, it seems like I’m just doing what I should be doing. But to them, it may come across as something else, something more meaningful.

So if at times that we teachers, may find our work too much to bear, think of our learners. They appreciate and see the importance of what we do, whether they may explicitly express it or not.

It’s nearing summer vacation! =)

Chika Thought: Eye candy and the wrappers

Sounding bitter? Not really 😛

So I’m just an ordinary girl who may also spot some eye candy littered everywhere. These candies may have different styles.

Some may be smart looking, wearing very smart looking clothes plus the glasses. (I wear glasses as well but it’s because I can’t see clearly, not just to look smart. 😛 ) Others may have these casual apparels, making them appear nice and approachable. Still others wear these emo or goth getup that gives them a mysterious bad boy look which some girls totally dig.

No matter what the getup is, eye candy is an eye candy. However, I can’t also help but notice the wrappers they have with them. And by wrappers, I mean literally and figuratively. These wrappers are seen having the same styles as the candies. Also they can be seen  wrapping their arms around the eye candies. You know what I mean. hehe. And because of them, the time spent on checking out the candies can sometimes be cut short. It won’t be fun to be stuck in a sticky situation.

So just be wary of those eye candies. Their wrappers might just be around somewhere 😉

Speaking of thoughts, let your thoughts speak.
